Whether your organisation already embraces the electric vehicle (EV) or is planning to invest in EVs and related infrastructure, at ICEE we offer a turn-key service, where we can install and commission the equipment for you, as well as help with grants and other services. The following blog outlines the benefits of Workplace EV Charging and explains the ways that ICEE can help to simplify and manage the process.

Across the United Kingdom, the knowledge and infrastructure of EV Charging is growing, meaning organisations need to ensure they do not get left behind. Having electric vehicle charging points installed in your business locations allows organisations to keep up with the ever-evolving demand for EV infrastructure, as well as provide a whole host of benefits for employees and customers alike.

One key advantage of having EV Capabilities installed within your workplace is that it demonstrates your company’s environmental commitment. The social responsibility of a business is key to its company brand, both internally through employees, as well as your external sales brand to customers. Enabling greener transport is a crucial first step. EV charging at the workplace sends a clear and visible message about where your business stands with respect to reducing the environmental impact of its operations and personnel.

As mentioned previously, employee brand internally can also be positively impacted by the installation of EV Charging at the workplace. Employees who feel valued by the business – and whose needs are met – are more engaged and productive. Providing essential electric charging for employees demonstrates a responsive and committed employer. Furthermore, it helps employee’s productivity, with them not worrying about where or when they will have the time or chance to charge up. This really helps demonstrate a company’s commitments to a healthy work-life balance.

Mileage is another constraint for companies that are running either hybrid, or fully electric fleets of company vans or vehicles. By having the correct infrastructure in place at either a home site, or main office, you have the ability to reduce costs on fuel as well as maintenance, and can ensure vehicles are charged at all times, while still being enclosed within a safe, secure, company property.

ICEE capabilities regarding EV Installation stretch far and wide. Using our in-depth field services, we begin by surveying the area, understanding where the customer would want the charging points installed, and any challenges we may face during the install. As a managed service, you can rest assured that we cover every aspect of the installation, from the civils works (digging up the trench, laying the wires etc), right through to the electrical connection, we make the process easy.

All of our installation engineers are trained to NVQ Level 3 standards on BS7671:2019, the 17th edition of the wiring regulations. Our lead electricians are qualified to Level 3 in City and Guilds 2391 Initial Verification and are certified by the NICEIC for Electric Vehicle charging equipment installation.

Not only can we install and maintain electric vehicle charging points, but we also provide fabrication services and bespoke or branded casing for the units.

Shane Thomas, Key Account Manager for many of our EV clients, had this to say, “The installation of EV Infrastructure is a key path towards a greener future, and by having these changes put in place for businesses and offices alike, it ensures they are meeting sustainability targets and employee requirements at the same time”.

Finally, ICEE has official recognition from The Office for Low Emission Vehicles to be an authorised installer under the OLEV Workplace Charging Scheme (WCS).

This means we can submit grant claims for our customers, enabling you to save money under the WCS scheme for the installation of specific types of EV workplace charging equipment. To find out more, get in touch or visit the UK Government website using the link below.
